Bringing Baby Home – parent like a pro from day one

Understand your baby’s needs from day ONE!

This day-long  class is a MUST for expectant parents who want to be PREPARED for their new life with a new baby. Before your baby arrives, spend the day with Elaine, an experienced, certified postpartum doula and learn how to THRIVE, not just survive, your first month home with your new baby. Practical tips and evidenced- based information on normal newborn behavior, sleep and eat cues, breastfeeding, soothing, enjoying and playing with your new baby etc.  You and your partner will build a knowledge base,  increase your parenting confidence and head off new parent anxiety.

What: One all-day class

Grandparent’s Workshop

 The who, what, when, where and how of being a brand new grandparent!

Grandparents know a lot about babies, true. But current birth and infant care practices and advice are very different than they were 25+ years ago.  In this approx. two-hour workshop  we’ll discuss current childbirth practices and the many changes in infant/child care in recent years. Infant sleep, breastfeeding, crying, soothing babies, current birth practices, safety, SIDS prevention, toys etc. Makes a great holiday,  Mother’s or Father’s Day gift.

Giving a gift certificate for this class to the expectant grandparents as a fun way to announce your pregnancy.

What: One 2 hour class

Intro to Baby Sign Language

As soon as your baby begins waving “bye-bye” (around 8 months or so) you are ready to begin signing. Signing with baby cuts down on communication frustration for all and, according to research, actually encourages speech. Video presentation, discussion, resources and baby sign book included in the registration for this small group one-hour long workshop attended WITH your baby. Fun!

I will happily take this class “on the road.” Put together your own group of 3 or more parent/baby pairs and I’ll travel to you!

Intro to Infant Massage

Massage is a lovely and loving way to improve your bond with your baby. It facilitates communication, soothes and relaxes you and your baby. One-hour, small group class with video, discussion, resources. Fun!

I will happily take this class “on the road.” Put together your own group of 3 or more parent/baby pairs and I’ll travel to you!

Meet Other Moms (MOM)

Small group discussion each 1-1.5 hours, attended by other local moms and facilitated by Elaine Petrowski, PCD, DONA. Each 4-week session focuses on different topics of interest to mothers and often includes a guest expert speaker. Topics  may include: Night -time Parenting, Infant Sleep, Introducing Solid Foods, New Legal  Responsibilities for New Parents, Vaccination, Fever, Raising Healthy Eaters, Protecting Your Back Caring for Baby, Green Cleaning, Raising Healthy Families etc.  Have fun. Get out with your baby and make some new mom friends!

What: 6 week session
When:  starts April & September
Cost: $120
